Daniel Frazier: Artist-Writer-Filmmaker
Comics
It was 4th grade when I first took a sheet of notebook paper, drew a grid of boxes and filled them with stick figures. That was my first comic. And it had ninjas. Because ninjas were super cool in the '80s.
After middle school my interests drifted more to filmmaking and it seemed my comic days were behind me. Jump ahead a couple of decades and I found myself back in the world of comic creation (also known as cartooning). Little did I know at the time that the independent comic universe was booming with many creators now able to get their books out to the masses thanks to online sales, print-on-demand services, comic cons and digital comics.
While cartooning and filmmaking have a lot in common in a storytelling sense there are major differences between the two art forms in what it takes to bring them to life. Filmmaking typically is an intensive process involving many people as well as a lot of time and money. To create a comic you need pencil, paper, and ink. Sure, that is a very simplified way of looking at it but I have personally seen many artists create great pieces with just those tools.
Below are the comics I have had the pleasure of creating with hopefully more to come in the future.
